SHERIDAN — After a weekend of rest and with spring break out of the way, Sheridan soccer teams are thrown full-force into 4A East conference action.
The boys play always-strong sides Cheyenne East and Central, as the Broncs look for their first win in two matches. Cheyenne East visits Homer Scott Field Friday night at 6 p.m., with Central following Saturday at noon.
East holds an overall record of 3-0-2, with just one conference win. Central is 3-1 overall, and 0-1 in conference play.
East has been the stronger of the two so far this year, coming off wins over Scottsbluff, Neb., and Central two weeks ago. East beat Central 1-0.
On their visit to Northeast Wyoming this weekend, the two Cheyenne schools will also play emerging 2013 4A soccer favorite Gillette. But first, this weekend, the two meet Sheridan to hash out who’ll challenge the Camels at the top.
The Broncs are 1-2 in their last two weeks of competition. Sheridan lost to Laramie 3-0 two weeks ago, and fought to a 1-1 draw in Buffalo last Thursday.
Sheridan hosts the Camels next Friday night and this weekend marks the beginning of a five-game homestand for the boys that will result in the Broncs finishing their season with three straight on the road before they head to regionals in Cheyenne May 9.
In Cheyenne, the Lady Broncs play East Friday night and Central Saturday afternoon.
The Central and East girls played to a 1-1 draw in their last competition and they were both idle last weekend.
The Sheridan girls, paced by three goals from Emily Julian during the last two weeks, are 2-1 in their last three games.
Sheridan fell to Central by a final score of 1-0 in last year’s 4A girls state championship game.
