BANNER — Fort Phil Kearny will host “Full Moon Fort” lantern tours Oct. 18 from 6-8 p.m.
These guided lantern tours on the night of the October full moon will be part of the fort’s special event about the “Bloody Bozeman” Trail.
Visitors will hear fun facts and “grisly” details related to the daily lives of the natives and soldiers near the “hated fort on Buffalo Creek.”
The Fort Phil Kearny Interpretive Center and gift shop will be open during the event.
Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly for the 30-minute tours.
In case of dangerous cold or wet conditions, the event will be canceled.
Site fees apply for visitors over the age of 17. Wyoming residents are $2 and non-residents are $4.
Fort Phil Kearny State Historic Site is open Wednesday through Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
It is located at 528 Wagon Box Road in Banner, off Interstate 90 exit 44.
