WYO Theater kicking off educational series Oct. 10

SHERIDAN — The WYO Theater kicks off their 2013-2014 Children’s and Educational Series Oct. 10 at 6:30 p.m. with “Tomas and the Library Lady.”

Based on the book by Pat Mora, “Tomas and the Library Lady” is the true story of Tomas Rivera. As a young boy, his encounter with the local librarian opened up a new world of books and stories and marked the beginning of his career as a successful novelist, educator and the first minority chancellor of the University of California Riverside.

This stage production is written by playwright José Cruz Gonzáles and will be performed by Arizona-based Childsplay, a professional theatre company for young audiences and families, as part of its national tour of the show.

Childsplay Founder and Artistic Director David Saar will direct.

Tickets are $14 for adults, $8 for students and $5 for children 12 and under.

Tickets can be purchased by calling 672-9084, online at www.wyotheater.com or at the WYO Theater box office at 42 N. Main St.
