Volleyball: Sheridan ready for home action, Gillette
Date posted: October 2, 2013
SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School volleyball team will get some long-awaited play in front of their home crowd Friday and Saturday at SHS.
“We are looking forward to the Gillette game tomorrow,” head coach Wendi Ruby said Thursday morning. “It is nice to play at home this week border wars as well. Gillette is a good team, and they are playing well right now, and it is always a battle with us and them, so it will be a fun atmosphere.”
The Lady Broncs had a tough weekend in Casper Friday and Saturday, winning just one match out of the five they played. Sheridan (0-4, 6-11) fell to Gillette (4-1, 20-3) early in the season, and will look to get on track Thursday night and improve their 4A East record entering the season’s final swing.
“We are the underdog, but being the underdog isn’t all that bad, we have nothing to lose, and I know the girls will give their best effort. We have been really focusing on being a team, and being genuinely happy for each other on the court, I strongly believe that if the team can figure out how to play for each other, we will start seeing success, as we have the physical capability to compete with any team in the state.”
The team will host the Border Wars Saturday, beginning Saturday morning at 10 o’clock.
