Murphy to hold book signing Friday

 

SHERIDAN — Author Warren Murphy, a 36-year Wyoming resident, will give a book signing for “On Sacred Ground: A Religious and Spiritual History of Wyoming” Friday at Sheridan Stationery, Books and Gallery.

He will also read sections from the book that relate to Sheridan and Buffalo.

This book was the winner of the 2011-2012 non-fiction history award from the Wyoming Historical Society.

It looks at how religion and spirituality played a role in Wyoming history.

The book signing will be from 3:30-5 p.m. at 206 N. Main St.

 

Sheridan County Museum holds

annual trek

 

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan County Historical Society and Sheridan County Museum’s annual trek will be Sunday.

This year’s destination is Battle Butte battlefield site in southern Montana.

The trek starts at 10 a.m. at the Sheridan County Museum with a talk by Sonny Reisch.

At 11 a.m., vehicles will leave to drive to Battle Butte, arriving about noon.

After a picnic lunch, Reisch will speak again, point out landmarks and answer questions about the battle.

Participants may then take a self-guided tour of the battle site.

Carpooling is required and can be arranged at the museum the morning of the trek.

Participants should bring a sack lunch and drinks and are encouraged to bring a lawn chair, as there is no seating available.

The trek price, which includes admission to the museum, is $10 for SCHS and museum members and $15 for non-members. Pre-registration is required and may be made by calling the museum at 675-1150.
