Meador named 2013 Senior Poet Laureate

SHERIDAN — Retired teacher Renee Meador of Big Horn has been named the 2013 Wyoming Senior Poet Laureate for her poem “Companion.”

Meador grew up in Sheridan and taught mathematics at Sheridan High School and Sheridan Junior High School. She retired in 2009.

Amy Kitchener’s Angels Without Wings Foundation, a nonprofit literary society in Monterey, Calif., founded by Wanda Sue Parrot, sponsors the annual poetry contest. Poems are solicited from poets who are at least 50 years of age.

Great Spirit Publishing in Springfield, Mo., will publish the 2013 winning poems in a book titled “Golden Words.”
