SHERIDAN — Sheridan High School tennis teams edged Kelly Walsh Tuesday in Casper.
The girls and boys each won three games to two. Julia Fenn, continuing her unbeaten 2013 season, made quick work of Allyn Harris 6-0, 6-0.
Head coach Bob Faurot praised Katelynn Brooks for her play at No. 2 singles, saying she “had a learning match where she had to fight through adversity to pull out the victory.” He added that Belen Espada Vioque and Jillian Stalker played a good match to win at No. 3 doubles.
For the Broncs, Braxton Cooper filled in for a sick Adam Berry and played well, Faurot said, as he fell 6-3, 6-3. Reed Ritterbusch won at No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-4.
Lachlan Brennan and Tristan Gamble played a good first set only to lose in a tie-breaker 7-2. Behind in the second set 4-1 and 5-2, they hung in and won the next four to win 7-5, Faurot said.
“Then they jumped out to a fast lead and never looked back winning 6-0 in the third and deciding set to give the match to Sheridan,” Faurot explained.
At No. 2 doubles, Logan Garstad and Turner Martini defeated Jacob Campbell and Chris Hawley 6-4, 6-3 in Sheridan’s other win of the day.
The team hosts Powell Friday at 3 p.m. on senior night. They’ll play Cody at 10 a.m. Saturday before heading to their conference event next week in Casper.
