Police involved in high speed chase over stolen tires

SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Police Department was involved in a high speed chase around the outskirts of town Friday morning. Officers were attempting to apprehend a suspected tire thief.

According to a press release from the Sheridan police, the incident began at approximately 10:30 in the morning when when police received a report that someone driving a gold colored Tahoe or Suburban took tires from a business on the 1200 block of Coffeen Avenue without paying for them.

The subject was seen later that morning  at another business on the 1800 block of Coffeen Avenue. Officers attempted to approach the subject  took off at a high rate of speed and led officers on a chase that went down Brundage Lane, North on I-90, and back into Sheridan via the 5th Street exit.

Officers terminated the chase when the subject reentered city limits due to the escapee’s reckless driving and possible public endangerment.

The release states officers have knowledge of the suspect’s identity, but so far, have been unable to locate the person.

Sheridan Police indicated the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
