SHERIDAN — On Tuesday, Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library will host the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery Project.
5:30 p.m. — Sheridan High School teacher and local historian Tyson Emborg will give a presentation in the Inner Circle.
5:45 p.m. — Wyoming Room director Judy Slack will give a tour of that area of the library, focusing on obituary and genealogy research files.
6 p.m. — Participants will travel from the library to Sheridan Municipal Cemetery.
6:15 p.m. — Emborg will give a guided tour of the cemetery.
Sheridan Municipal Cemetery was established in 1890 and now has over 19,000 people buried there.
Records pertaining to those buried there often contradict headstones and obituaries.
The Wyoming Room and the city clerk have both done extensive work attempting to reconcile these differences and produce a comprehensive guide to the cemetery.
Emborg has researched the cemetery for years and is especially knowledgeable about Civil War veterans buried there.
