Mountain lions kill dog in Jackson-area backyard

JACKSON (AP) — Wyoming Game and Fish Department officials say mountain lions have killed a dog in its backyard in the Jackson area.
The Jackson Hole News and Guide reports the dog was attacked last week outside its home near the Gros Ventre River.
Biologist Mike Boyce of the Game and Fish Department says it appears a female cougar with two large kittens dragged the carcass about 600 or 700 yards and fed on it.
Game and Fish employees tried to live-trap the cougar family for three days. Boyce says the traps were pulled Thursday after efforts to capture the animals failed.
