SHERIDAN — The Sheridan girls swimming and diving team is far ahead of where they were last season at this time after two events in Gillette, head coach Brent Moore said.
“We had a great meet,” Moore said of the Gillette Pentathalon Saturday. “Second place finish feels great.”
During their strong team finish Saturday, SHS qualified six swimmers for state, with several qualifying in multiple events. The Lady Broncs head to Cody Friday.
State qualifiers at Gillette Pentathlon:
100-free: Mackenzie Dougherty: 59.94; Payton Brilz 1:01:41; Gretchen Dougherty 1:01.48; Katie Beardslee 1:01.95; and Emily Spiegelberg 1:02.13.
100 backstroke: Spiegelberg 1:07.19; and Brilz 1:10.37.
100 breastroke: G. Dougherty: 1:14.92; M. Dougherty 1:18.88
100 butterfly: G. Dougherty 1:07.82; M. Dougherty 1:07.85; P. Brilz 1:09.57; E. Spiegelberg 1:11.05; K. Beardslee: 1:12.89; Laurel Fosnight 1:13.68

In 1-meter diving, Sarah Migrants and Sarah Von Krosigk were 10th and 11th respectively.
