SHERIDAN — The Sheridan High School girls swimming and diving team sat in fifth place of 10 teams in the Gillette Relays Friday night.
“We swam incredibly well and are way ahead of where I thought we would be (at this point in the season),” coach Brent Moore said.
The 200-yard medley relay team of Emily Spiegelberg, Gretchen Dougherty, Mackenzie Dougherty and Payton Brilz took first place with a time of 2:00.86, barely defeating the second-place score of 2:01.12 from a Campbell County High School team.
A second relay team from Sheridan in the event finished 10th with a time of 2:16.98.
Sheridan also took third place in the 800-freestyle relay and seventh and ninth in the 200-freestyle relay.
The Lady Broncs finished third in the 200-yard butterfly relay with a time of 2:01.51, behind Cheyenne East’s time of 1:59.38 and Campbell County’s 2:00.72. A second 200-butterfly team from Sheridan took 10th.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Sheridan took seventh and in the 100-freestyle the Lady Broncs teams nabbed fifth and 17th place.
In the 200-yard backstroke relay the Lady Broncs teams took third and 11th place, while in the 200-yard breaststroke relay they took fourth and 11th.
Finally in the 400-yard freestyle relay, Sheridan finished sixth and 11th.
Sheridan’s lone diver Whitney Migrants sits in 15th out of 18 competitors.
The Lady Broncs will compete in the Gillette Pentathalon today.
