SHERIDAN — Wyatt Bear Cloud was resentenced by Judge John Fenn in Wyoming’s Fourth Judicial District Court Wednesday, and will now be eligible for parole for the offense of first degree murder in 25 years.
Bear Cloud was one of three teens who participated in a home invasion and murder of a Sheridan businessman, Robert Ernst, in 2009. He was initially sentenced to life in prison, but the Supreme Court of the United States determined life sentences for juvenile offenders is excessive punishment.
Bear Cloud, now 20, was 16 when he and two other teenagers broke into the home of Robert Ernst and committed the murder with a stolen handgun.
Bear Cloud was also convicted of two other charges that were not addressed at the hearing, as they were not sent back to the state by the Supreme Court.
