SHERIDAN — The Generals have moved another player on to Division 1.
Ron Mvouika will play basketball at Missouri Valley State University next season after completing two successful years at Sheridan College.
“I’m excited to continue my playing career for the Missouri State Bears,” Mvouika said in a press release from Sheridan College athletics. “To play for coach (Paul) Lusk in such a great league, and against a high level of competition is going to be a great challenge that I am excited to take on.”
Mvouika departs for the Missouri Valley Conference after leading the Generals in scoring with 19.3 points per game. An inside-out threat, he averaged 8.2 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 2012-13, leading Sheridan College to a 24-7 record and a share of the Region IX North title.
“Sheridan College has helped me be a better person,” Mvouika added. “I not only grew in basketball, but as a man. Coach Smiley and coach Magrino have been great mentors, and my teammates are my brothers. I give glory to God in everything and thank him for everything he has given me in my life.”
“We think it will be a great fit for him, and we’re confident that he’s found a great situation,” Generals head coach Steve Smiley said. “Ron has matured as much as any kid that we’ve had from the start of his freshman year to this point in his career, and I think he’ll continue to grow and improve at Missouri State.”
Mvouika joins Tate Stensgaard as the Generals’ second D1 transfer in 2012-13. Stensgaard signed with Western Illinois.
