Yager assigned $10,000 unsecured bond

SHERIDAN — Chris Yager was assigned a $10,000 unsecured bond Tuesday by Sheridan County Circuit Court Judge Shelley Cundiff.

Yager is charged with felony second degree sexual assault after allegedly having an intimate relationship with a woman he formerly supervised as a probation and parole officer for the Wyoming Department of Corrections.

Since the charge has been filed, Yager has been placed on a paid leave of absence from his position as a parole officer.

Court documents allege the inappropriate relationship between an unnamed female and Yager, her former parole officer, began in January of this year and lasted until May. Though Yager was no longer acting as a supervisor for the woman’s case, state stipulations forbid romantic relationships between parole officers and their charges for a period of time after the supervisory period ends.

Conditions of Yager’s bond are that he may not have contact with the victim or witnesses to the case, must stay in contact with his attorney and abide by local, state and federal laws.

Second degree sexual assault carries a mandatory minimum sentence of two years in prison and a maximum of a 20-year possible sentence in conjunction with a fine of up to $10,000.

Yager’s next court date has not yet been scheduled.
