Virginia L. Jensen-Turner, 83, of Sheridan passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Sheridan Memorial Hospital.
Virginia was born to parents Bert C. and Elizabeth V. (Snyder) Roe in Eureka, MT on August 6, 1929. She attended school at Iowa Flats Elementary and Lincoln County High School in Eureka. After high school she studied at St. Peter’s School of Nursing associated with St. Martin’s College in Olympia, WA. She worked as a Registered Nurse for the V.A. for 30 years.
Virginia married Harold F. Jensen, Sr. in Chehalis, WA on February 17, 1951. They had four children together. Harold passed away in 1986. She later married Marvin Turner on June 23, 1994 in Sheridan, WY. Marvin passed away in 2000.
Virginia enjoyed fishing, hunting, crafts, dancing and the YMCA. She kept busy with her volunteer work at the Holy Name Catholic Thrift Store, Lunch Together Soup Kitchen and the Big Horn Historical Society. She was a member of Holy Name Catholic Church, Holy Name CCW/ St. Joseph’s Group, Big Horn Historical
Society, and the YMCA.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, husband Marvin, sisters; Frances E. Olmstead and Corrine Beirne. She is survived by her children; Harold F. (Chris) Jensen Jr., Valene L. (Randy) Goff, Shawn B. Jensen, Michael H. Jensen, her step children; Constance (John) Bosley and Rhonda (Bruce) Burkhart, brother, Willard A. Roe, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at the Holy Name Catholic Church. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Ron Stolcis officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Big Horn with Father Ron Stolcis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials to honor Virginia may be made to the Council of Catholic Women in c/o Holy Name Catholic Church at 260 E. Loucks, Sheridan, WY 82801, Big Horn Historical Society at P.O. Box 566, Big Horn, WY 82833 or to the donor’s choice.
