Airport fly-in; FAB Conference
Date posted: August 23, 2013
Dale Hall from Kennon Aircraft Covers, a Sheridan manufacturer with unique products and client list, tells the Notebook how the Sheridan Pilots Association will be having a Fly-In/Open House event on Sept. 7 at the Sheridan County Airport.
It’s from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the public is encouraged to attend. Dale is in the business development component of Kennon. In addition to having a national client list, they have distributors of Sheridan-made products in Australia, South Africa and are working on expanding this global reach.
“It’s an opportunity to show how our airport benefits the community,” Hall says. There will be food, exhibits of WWII and Korean War training aircraft, free plane rides for the kids, he adds.
It’s the first fly-in since 2006.
(Bless those commercial flights in/out of Sheridan. Visitors into the Press always remark on the big, bright neon sign that greets passengers as they deplane.)
Incidentally, come Sunday, the Sheridan branch of the Civil Air Patrol will have a change in command ceremony at the National Guard Armory. It starts at 2 p.m. Major John Todd is relinquishing command to Lt. Dave Gopperton, says Hall. There are other CAP chapters in Wyoming: Gillette, Cody, Casper.
“These young men and women have an opportunity to learn how to fly, they are involved in search and rescue events and they get an appreciation of how to serve their community,” he adds.
The CAP is an auxiliary branch of the U.S. Air Force.

If you follow baseball, much is being said/written these days regarding how well NY Yankees manager Joe Girardi has got his team back in the hunt for a playoff spot, despite the ongoing circus of his best-known player, Alex Rodriquez.
Reminds of a quote from the great Yankee manager and philosopher, Casey Stengel:
“The secret to managing is to keep the guys who hate you away from the guys who are undecided.”
