SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Press has learned one of the suspected fake dollar bills reported to the Sheridan Police Department has been identified as legitimate currency. The $50 bill was turned in to the department Monday night by a suspicious citizen.
SPD Detective Jerry Rassmussen identified the note as the real deal.
Police are still looking into two other bills suspected to be phony. One $10 and one $20 are still under investigation.
The Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce issued a cautionary note to businesses that counterfeit money may be in circulation. Any questionable bills should be checked for a security strip or with a counterfeit pen and reported to Sheridan police.
