WEATHER FROM OUR SPONSORS
SHERIDAN — PURENERGY Fitness is hosting the second annual Sibley Lake Triathlon Aug. 24.
Racers will compete in a 750-meter swim in Sibley Lake, a 13-mile road bike on Highway 14 and a 3.75-mile trail run on the Sibley Lake nordic ski trail system.
There are three competition divisions: men, women and relay. Prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers in each division.
One of the attending athletes is Jenn Sommermann, 49, from Freeport, N.Y., who was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer six years ago. Her mission is to complete 50 triathalons in 50 states by the time she is 50 years old and raise $100,000 to fight ovarian cancer.
Race day check in opens at 7 a.m. at Sibley Lake on Highway 14 in the Bighorn Mountains. Rules will be given at 8:30 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m.
Participants and spectators should park in designated areas only — there is no parking on Highway 14. Carpooling is encouraged.
The cost is $55 or $105 for relay teams. Registration forms are available at PURENERGY Fitness, The Sports Stop, Good Health Emporium and Back Country Bike and Mountain Works. Registration is also available the day of the event.
