SHERIDAN— The Sheridan College Art Department will open its inaugural Spear-O-Wigwam artist residency and art student intensive program Sunday.

The residency will run through Sept. 7 and will feature University of Akron professor Charles Beneke as the first resident artist. Beneke was invited by the Sheridan College Art Department faculty.

This year Sheridan College art students will be creating and binding sketchbooks to complete a project on space, place and travel, said Jason Lanka, a Sheridan College art faculty member.

“It will be an amazing experience for our students and faculty,” Lanka said. This new program has been supported by the Sheridan College Foundation, Sheridan College and the staff off the Spear-O-Wigwam Mountain Campus, Lanka said.
