SHERIDAN — The Jets started slow, but were picked up by a Kendall Walters no-hitter that led to an 8-0 win in their second game Tuesday in Billings.

After dropping the first game of a doubleheader, 9-1, to the non-legion affiliated traveling team, the Billings Regulators, the Jets showed consistency at the plate in the win.

“I was happy to see us play with some fire in the second game,” head coach Ryan Murner said. “Kendall Walters threw a no-hitter over five innings, and we supplied some runs to get him the victory.  He did a great job today.”

Walters threw 61 pitches, getting two groundouts and five fly-outs, striking out five. He hit two batters and walked two batters.

Max Lube was 3 for 3, and Blake Godwin, Davis Alden, James Timberlake and Zach Soule had RBIs.

The first game was a different story. Tyler Stauffer’s homer was the Jets high-point in what finished as a four for 21 hitting effort.

“We showed a lot of inconsistency today,” Murner said. “In the first game we were just not ready to play. Mistakes in the field, at the plate and on the bases were all results of not being focused and ready to battle.”

Sheridan (12-25) is home for the rest of the season, beginning July 16 against the Casper Drillers.

They will host the State B Tournament July 25-28.
