Skatulas celebrate 60th wedding anniversary

skatula annivSHERIDAN — Thursday marks the 60th wedding anniversary of Roman and Marty Skatula of Sheridan. They were married Jan. 24, 1953, in Orlando, Fla.

The couple met in Philadelphia, Pa., where Roman Skatula was stationed with the U.S. Air Force and Marty Skatula was a graduate of Temple University School of Nursing.

After Roman Skatula was discharged from the service, the couple returned to Sheridan — his hometown. He worked as a banker with Bank of Commerce and First Interstate Bank for 55 years.

Marty Skatula worked as a nurse at Sheridan Memorial Hospital, the Sheridan Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Eventide Nursing Home (now Sheridan Manor).

The Skatulas have four children — the late Kathryn Skatula, Debra (Richard) Mason of Bellevue, Wash., Rick (Kim) Skatula of Casper and Mary Jo (Clark) Johnson of Sheridan.

They have five grandchildren — Jordan and Zachary Mason, Adam (Amy) and Gretchen Skatula and Sara Johnson.
