SHERIDAN — Nearly two months after she pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, Sheridan city councilwoman Shelleen Smith is scheduled to change that plea at a hearing July 11.

Smith declined comment on the newly scheduled hearing.

Her attorney, Ryan Healy also declined to comment on the matter, citing client confidentiality expectations.

Smith was arrested by the Sheridan Police Department just after midnight on April 26 near the intersection of Big Horn Avenue and Absaraka Street.

Police reports allege she had been driving erratically at the time she was stopped.

In a written statement issued later that day, she said she regretted the circumstances that led to the arrest and that she intended to accept the consequences of her actions.
