SHERIDAN — In anticipation of school being out, Sheridan County Fulmer Public Library is offering “Groundbreaking Reads,” a program to promote summer reading for entertainment.

Numerous studies show that students can lose as much as two grade levels in skill if they do not read over the summer.

On June 1, adults and young adults can pick up a punch card at the library’s circulation desk.

For each book checked out, the reader will receive one punch on the card.

When the card is completed, the patron may choose a reading prize and start a new punch card.

Completed punch cards are submitted for monthly prize drawings and for a grand prize drawing at the end of the summer.

The grand prizes are one iPad mini for an adult reader and one iPad mini for a young adult reader.

Prizes for the summer reading program have been provided by Home Depot, Bella Bling, Landon’s Greenhouse and Nursery and the Sheridan Library Foundation.
