SHERIDAN — A man facing more than a dozen charges of possession of child pornography and one count of sexual abuse of a minor has been transferred into local custody, a Sheridan Police Department spokesman confirmed this morning.

Following an investigation last summer, Bryan Jones left Sheridan County for several months before he was discovered by law enforcement officials to be living in Texas.

A warrant paved the way for his arrest and eventual return to Wyoming.

Jones is also facing charges in Goshen County, but Police Lt. Chris Dahmke said he was not aware if the cases were related.
Authorities were tipped off to a possible child abuse case against Jones midway through 2012, but further investigation led them to believe the situation was more extensive than they had initially anticipated.

“It kind of mushroomed into those other charges,” Dahmke said.
According to a staffer at the 4th Judicial District Court, a court appearance for Jones had not been scheduled as of this morning.
