Dorothy Martin September 7, 1924 – April 23, 2013

Dorothy Martin, 88, of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the Greenhouse Living Center.
Dorothy was born September 7, 1924, to John and Elizabeth Dyer, in Anaconda, Montana. She attended school and graduated from high school at St. Peter’s in Anaconda. She lived and worked in Anaconda, where she met and married
Obren “Doc” Stanich prior to World War II. Two weeks later, he was drafted and went into the armed forces. During those years, Dorothy worked at the Anaconda Copper Company. She was the first female to be employed there and worked as a secretary to the superintendant.
Dorothy later lived in Billings where she worked at Eastern Montana College, until 1971. She then moved to Winifred, Montana, later returning to Billings to retire. She moved to Sheridan, Wyoming in 2010, to enjoy her family.
Dorothy is survived by her two children, Lynda “Sam” (Duane) Madsen of Sheridan, WY, and John Stanich of Hardin, MT. Grandchildren Mandee (Dan) Vimont of Madison, Wisconson, Amy (Robert) Winters of Seattle, Washington, Chlesie (Andres) Vega of Portland, Oregon, and three great grandchildren, Caden, Elliot and Cecelia Vimont.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Greenhouse Living for Sheridan.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan, with a private family Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
