SHERIDAN — The Big Horn and Tongue River teams finally saw some action on the links Saturday as they attempt to salvage what’s left of their depleted spring golf schedule.

The Lady Rams 326 was behind Lusk’s 274 Saturday, good enough for second place at the Moorcroft Invite. Big Horn was led by Taylor Nance, who shot a 91.

For the Rams, Jack Roberts had the low score, an 89, helping Big Horn card a team score 397, and finish in fourth place behind third place Tongue River (382).

Wyatt Main and Casey Caywood shot identical 91s to lead the Eagles.

“The kids played their first tournament of the year in Moorcroft on Saturday, and I was really pleased with how well they played for the first time out all year,” TR first-year coach Pete Kilbride said.

Other scorers for the Rams included Nick McAdoo, 94, Ty Lameres, 106, Christian Klepperich, 108, and Ed Atter, 120. For the Eagles, Wyatt Schumacher shot a 93 and Dylan Patterson carded a 107.

Lady Rams Kaleigh Anderson, Jamie Kitterman shot a 112 and a 123, respectively.

“Overall the kids did a great job,” Big Horn head coach Mila Stender said of her squad’s day. “In particular, Taylor Nance, Jack Roberts, Christian Klepperich and Nick McAdoo all dropped their scores significantly from last year’s season averages.

“It was nice to finally get out and play after the snow and cold,” she added.

With limited spring action already winding down, the two schools are scheduled to compete in the Devils Tower Invite Tuesday in Hulett, followed by a trip to Lusk and Wright this weekend to finish their regular season.

Tongue River will host their conference tournament at Kendrick Golf Course May 9-10.
