SHERIDAN — Twelve of this weekend’s 15 scheduled track meets that Wyoming schools were to compete in have been either cancelled or postponed due to weather.

Luckily, Sheridan’s Dan Hansen, set to begin 10 a.m. Saturday at SHS, is one of the surviving few. The all-day meet forced the SHS boys soccer games (JV at 10 a.m., varsity at noon) Saturday against Cheyenne South to be moved to Big Horn High School.

The meet will likely be packed with schools searching for a meet, making it extra-competitive this year.

Golf teams continue to remain dormant, taking perhaps the biggest hit from this Wyoming spring. Big Horn’s host golf tournament set for today at the Powder Horn was cancelled, and the Tongue River golf team has yet to compete this year.

Sheridan golfers missed tournaments in Gillette and Douglas this week due to the storms in southern Wyoming.

The Sheridan girls soccer team’s game at Cheyenne South set for Saturday was postponed.

The Sheridan Troopers will open their season at home next Saturday at 1 p.m. vs. Cody.
