SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College women’s basketball team has started its 2013 signing process, bringing in a Gillette standout.

Head coach Frank McCarthy announced Tuesday the signing of Campbell County High School’s Sierra Toms. Toms, a 6-foot post player, shared 2012-13 4A Player of the Year honors with Sheridan’s Hailey Ligocki.

“We are really looking forward to the addition of Sierra to our program,” said head coach Frank McCarthy. “Sierra is a natural scorer and will allow us the ability to stretch opponents defensively with her three-point shooting. We are excited to have such a talented young lady joining our program and are looking for her to make an impact from day one.”

A part of the 2013 4A girls state champion Lady Camels, Toms scored 14 points per game and had 5.8 rebounds per contest, shooting 51 percent from the field and 33 percent from behind the arc.

She was named all-conference and All-State, helping Gillette won its second state title in three years.

The Lady Generals plan to sign Laramie guard Katie Kuhn this week.
