SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Lady Broncs topped Kelly Walsh in the first round of the girls state soccer tournament Thursday in Rock Springs, winning 1-0.

Kelly Walsh dominates on high balls and by halftime the Lady Broncs hadn’t taken their normal number of shots on goal.

“You need to keep the high balls down and start taking shots,” SHS coach Mallery Marshall said she told the girls at the halftime break.

The Lady Broncs responded and began attacking the net until Jamy Shassetz finally got one shot past the goalie.

“The team played one of the best games of possession they have ever played,” Marshall said. “It was a great team effort and we moved some players to different positions and they just capitalized off of each other and won.”

The Lady Broncs will play against Gillette today at 1:30 p.m. at Rock Springs High School.
