SHERIDAN — The Sheridan Jets held their own until the sixth inning Saturday at Thorne-Rider Park against the Rapid City 22 Expos, but lost 13-2 and 13-3 in their doubleheader.

“In our first game, we had a competitive game going until the sixth,” Jets head coach Ryan Murner said. “We allowed a huge inning because of defensive mistakes and we were not able to overcome our letdown.”

The Jets were tied 2-2 up to the sixth inning, when RC’s three big home runs sent a spark through the visiting team.

Colten Williams and Davis Alden both had RBIs for Sheridan and many Jets players were able to get on base, they just couldn’t get enough hits in a row to score.

In the second game, Nolan McCafferty had an RBI and Williams had two RBIs to put three runs on the board for the Jets.

“Offensively the team had some hard hit balls but we couldn’t put a lot of at bats together,” Murner said. “There were bright spots but many areas that still are in need of improvement, and having more games will help them get the experience and improve.”

The Troopers were rained out over the weekend and will play a doubleheader on the road at Rapid City on Sunday at 1 p.m.
