SHERIDAN — Sheridan College men’s basketball coach Steve Smiley signed his second player to the 2014-2015 Generals. Butler joins Jevon Griffin as a 2014 recruit.

Terrell Butler of Arbor View High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, signed a National Letter of Intent to play in Sheridan.

A 6-foot-3, 185-pound guard, Butler will have two years of eligibility.

“Terrell is a player that we’ve recruited all year long and we’re really happy to get his commitment for next year,” Smiley said. “He had Division 1 interest for the entire season, so we feel like he’s a player that will be able to step in and help right away.”

Terrell completed his prep career this spring by helping Arbor View High School to a 23-3 record. Butler averaged 19 points, four rebounds, three assists, 2.5 steals and 1.5 blocks per game.

Butler was named athlete of the week on Nevadapreps.com, First Team All-Tournament at the Energy Classic, MVP of the Legacy Tip-Off Tournament and First Team All-Northwest Region as a junior and senior. Butler finished in the top five in career stats at Arbor View in all major categories and was a 1,000+ scorer.

“Terrell can play multiple guard spots and is a natural scorer with a great frame that is college ready,” Smiley said. “His athleticism should make him a great defender as he progresses in our system. He played on a very successful and well-coached high school team which will help tremendously with his learning curve in the fall.”
