SHERIDAN — Cheyenne South’s keeper Kara Clarke could not stop Sheridan’s Marissa Johansson from scoring Saturday afternoon. Johansson lead the Lady Broncs to a win against Cheyenne South 2-0 at Big Horn High School.
Within four minutes of the game’s start, Johansson scored the first goal of the day. The game was very physical on both sides. The Lady Broncs constantly kept the ball in South’s box keeping Clarke and her defenders on edge.
“I think this was a good weekend overall,” head coach Mallery Marshall said. “The team played really strong last night, and came into this game with tired legs and was still able to put out a good effort. We have a great bench to help keep the legs fresh on the field.”
At halftime the Lady Broncs were ahead 1-0 and came out in the second half ready to finish the game. In the 44th minute Johansson scored her second goal, cushioning her team’s lead.
“This weekend is good for the team’s confidence going into the week against Central and East,” Marshall said.
Sheridan Lady Broncs met Cheyenne South in Cheyenne earlier this season and beat them 6-0.
Currently the Lady Broncs are sitting third in their conference two points behind East.
They met up with Central earlier in April winning 1-0 and lost to East 0-2. The Lady Broncs will play at Central on Friday at 6 p.m. and at East on Saturday at noon.
