Lady Broncs 59, Billings Skyview 42
SHERIDAN — The Lady Broncs began 2013-14 with two double-digit wins, defeating Billings Skyview 56-42 Saturday in Sheridan.

Distributing scoring across the floor, the Lady Broncs built an early lead in a game with no ties or lead changes after the opening bucket. They led 18-12 after one, and 31-25 at halftime as Skyview played an aggressive style to keep itself in the game.

“They’re a good team, they’re quick, I like to see how we are in comparison — if we’re in shape,” head coach Jessica Pickett said. “Obviously it’s the beginning of the season it’s early, we have some work to do, but our girls handled it well adjusting from last night.” Sheridan beat Green River Friday night.

An 8-0 run to open the third quarter put things away Saturday as the Lady Broncs outscored Skyview 29-11 in the second half. Robbi Ryan led scorers with 18, hitting two 3s, and Taylor Townsend scored 14. Maddy McClure added nine.

Pickett said that while the first weekend was encouraging, she’d like to get some things cleaned up on the offensive end of the floor.

“Each and every player we’re looking at strengths and weaknesses, but as a team overall our offense just needs a little bit of work,” she said. “Coming in with a whole new staff, it’s hard, it takes time to put in new plays. While it’s great to play, you have to try some of those new things out, but it’s takes a while before we’re running things like we want to.”

Sheridan gets thrown into the fire with a trip to No. 1-ranked Natrona Friday at 7 p.m. They’re back home Saturday against Riverton at 2 p.m.

Scoring: Ryan 18, Townsend 14, McClure 9, Emily Julian 8, Allison Geary 4, Molly Ligocki 2, Dylan Wright 2, Megan Myers 2.

Broncs 59, Skyview 53
SHERIDAN — In Billings Saturday, the Sheridan Broncs started the year 2-0 after a hard-fought win.

Sheridan defeated Billings Skyview 59-53 behind 19 points from Dylan Daniels, 15 from Reed Ritterbusch and 10 from Judson White.

While they led by as many as 17 points in the second quarter, head coach Gale Smith said the Broncs overcame foul trouble and injuries to their two starting guards, Daniels and Cody Williams, entering the fourth quarter to hold on for the win.

He said sophomores Blake Baker and Blake Godwin did a good job stepping up off the bench late in the game.

Sheridan hosts Natrona at 7 p.m. Friday at SHS. They’re home again Saturday for a boys-girls doubleheader with Riverton beginning with the girls game at 2 p.m.

Scoring: Daniels 19, Ritterbusch 15, White 10, Blake Baker 5, Cody Williams 4, Tyler Kaufmann 3, Blake Godwin 3.
