SHERIDAN — Four Sheridan College basketball players, two from each the men’s and women’s teams, earned postseason conference recognition this week.
Victor Bermudez and Ron Mvouika were named All-North Region IX for the Generals, and Jasmine Davis and Milomilo Nanai were selected for the Lady Generals. All four players are sophomores, leading their teams to respective North Sub-Region titles this season.
Bermudez made a team-high 96 3-pointers, good enough for 8th in the country, averaging just over 14 points per game.
Mvouika led his team with 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.
The top three vote earners make first team, with three each on the second and third teams.
Mvouika was First-Team All-Region and Bermudez was second. Mvouika finished second to Casper College’s Remi Dibo. Men’s first team players are nominated for All-American status.
Nanai was the Lady Generals leading scorer at 18.1 points per game, and Davis led her team in assists with 3.7 per game.
For the women, players are nominated for All-American by coaches separately.
The Generals took a share of the regular season title with Casper College, and the Lady Generals won the outright women’s North championship.
Both squads open up postseason play at Region IX tournaments this weekend. The Generals will travel to Casper Saturday for a game with Northeastern Junior College. For the Lady Generals, their tournament begins at 1 p.m. Sunday in Scottsbluff, Neb. They’ll play Dawson Community College, a team they beat twice this year.
