SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College Science Museum Lecture Series will present “Monitoring Greater Sage-Grouse in the Powder River Basin” on Wednesday.

The free lecture will commence at 7 p.m. in the Mohns Science Center.

The PRB is home to a population of greater sage-grouse on the eastern edge of its range.

It is an isolated population, susceptible to local extinction which has also gone through extensive oil and gas development in the last decade, with potential impacts on sage-grouse and their habitat.

Big Horn Environmental Consultants has spent several years monitoring the sage-grouse and will present preliminary results and interesting implications from the study.

The lecture will be presented by BHEC consultants Tom Maechtle, Chris Kirol and Andy Sutphin.

For more information call the college at 674-6446 extension 3500.

The college is located at 3059 Coffeen Ave.
