Saturday, the fourth annual Sheridan College Rodeo Banquet will be held at the Holiday Inn, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Proceeds will benefit the mens and womens rodeo teams at SC, featuring athletes from five states and Canada. Tickets are available via 674-6446. Live music, too, after featuring Justin Beasley & After The Rodeo.
Platinum sponsors: GH Phipps, Zowada Recycling, LLC, Sheridan WYO Rodeo Gold Buckle Club, Powder River Veterinary Hospital & Supply, Wyoming Rehab, King’s Saddlery.
Other Sheridan-area businesses and institutions writing checks to support the SC rodeo teams and this banquet: Sheridan Motors, Sheridan Seed, First Northern Bank of Wyoming , Sheridan WYO Rodeo, Perry’s Trailer Sales, Chase Brothers Properties, Powder River Energy Corp, Big Horn Beverage, Wilcox Abstract, Paul delRossi.
One more reason to attend the banquet is the opportunity to bid on live auction and silent auction items. Items include firearms, SC rodeo team wear and photos, quilts, jewelry, artwork, a hunting trip and much more.
One unique item: a barbecue meal and a movie for 25 people.
Duane Smith has the bona fides as an award-winning, master barbecue chef. He’ll do brisket, pulled pork and all the fixins’ with a film of the winner’s choice. Duane’s ‘cue is being helped to the plate (and the auction) by Paul delRossi, “Mister Thirty & Three.” (His win-loss record at Harvard College, still atop the Crimson’s record books.)
Duane knows his way around a grill and smoker and has competed in Kansas barbecue contests. His pulled pork is always fresh, moist and flavorful with just the right spice. Good stuff, this.
And a movie, too. (Paul was in the theater biz.) Maybe the winner will pick best Western ever: “The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.” (1960, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin.) And the dinner will be held inside the spectacular Edward A. Whitney Education Center atrium.
Would expect a high bid for this auction prize with proceeds for a good local college program.

“Last week in New Orleans, Hillary Clinton said she still doesn’t know if she’s running for president in 2016. Isn’t that unbelieveable? With 315 million Americans, what are the odds she’s the only one in the country who doesn’t know she’s running for president in 2016?”
