Aksamit leads Lady Eagles

DAYTON — Eryn Aksamit led the Lady Eagles to a 58-29 victory over Wright Friday night.

She contributed 19 points to the overall score, netting 10 of those in the first quarter.

The Lady Eagles jumped out to a quick lead, 19-8, in the first quarter and extended that to 27-15 heading into the locker room at the half.

Coach Diane Moser said the entire team played well, with Tara Stimpson and Courtney Sharp defending well on the wings.

Sarah Rawlings contributed 10 points to the victory, while Amanda Buller and Stimpson each contributed six. The Lady Eagles will play Greybull at home today at 2:30 p.m.

“From what I remember, Greybull is a strong rebounding team and they have a lot of players back this year so we’ll need to come out ready to play,” Moser said.

Eagles earn overtime win

DAYTON — The Tongue River Eagles (4-10) managed an overtime win over Wright on Friday, 63-60.

“We dodged a couple bullets,” coach Robert Griffin said after the game. “We were ahead most of the game, had some clutch play down the stretch.”

Griffin noted that Chase Linhart had a great game with 16 points and Austen Scammon hit the boards well and had a lot of putbacks.

Cody Bueller, he noted, hit two 3-pointers on the night, one to put the Eagles in the lead and one to tie the game. Will Kerns also played well, Griffin said.

“It was a total team win,” Griffin said. “We played well defensively most of the night.”

The Eagles will face Greybull today following the girls. “They are a tough team and hopefully we’ll carry some momentum (into that game),” Griffin said.

Rams win 59-42

BIG HORN — Early energy from the Big Horn Rams helped seal a win against Riverside Friday night.

While the first quarter saw both teams score 14 points, the Rams second-quarter efforts sent them into the locker room with a halftime lead of 41-27.

“I thought early on our energy was pretty good,” coach Ryan Alley said after the game. “Our energy dropped a little later on, allowing them to stay in the game, but we came out in the start of the fourth and extended the lead.”

The Rams racked up an additional 12 points in the fourth quarter after netting six third-quarter points.

Colter Carzoli lead in scoring with 19, followed by Deven Ibach and Seth Kite with 12 apiece. Connor McCafferty also contributed nine points and five assists.

The Rams travel to Rocky Mountain today.

Lady Rams dominate Riverside, 71-7

BIG HORN — In a one-sided game Friday night in Big Horn, the Lady Rams walked away with a 71-7 win over Riverside.

“We got to work on several things that we needed to and we tried to take advantage of that,” head coach Mike Daley said. “We were able to execute pretty effectively.”

While no individual stats were available, Daley said 10 of the 12 girls scored in Friday’s game.

“Games like this are tough,” he said. “You go in expecting a good matchup and when it doesn’t turn out that way it is hard to shut your kids down.

“You ask every day that they play hard, it is hard to shut that down,” he continued.

Daley’s team will travel to Rocky Mountain today, where he said he hopes the girls will put together a good defensive effort and continue to shoot the ball better.
