Press adds features; Go Broncos!

Like a lot of local businesses this week, Press staffers have been dressed in Broncos gear.

Get-it-done sales staff member Lisa Marton says she’s a bigger fan than First Federal’s Kay Roush, featured earlier this week in The Sheridan Press, but Lisa laments how there was no front page coverage of her devotion.

(Not going to get in the middle of that.)

Fearless prediction: Denver 34, Seattle 30.

I see by the paper…..

The Buffalo Bulletin reports how the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce is busy starting plans for the 2014 version of “Longmire Days.” Last year, it was a flat-out sensation with most of the cast members from the most popular A&E Network program showing up to hang-out, sign autographs, pose for pictures and even do some karaoke in downtown Buffalo.

It’s set for July 18-20. Cast members Robert Taylor (Walt Longmire), Katee Sackoff (Vic Moretti), Bailey Chase (Branch Connally) and Adam Bartley (The ‘Ferg’) are penciled in to return. Cassidy Freeman (Cady Longmire) is a maybe; no Lou Diamond Phillips (Henry Standing Bear), though.

The series is based upon the best-selling novels by Craig Johnson of Ucross. Some 4 million plus viewers tune in weekly and it’s shown in six European and Asian countries as well.

Tonight, get out of the house and come to The Powder Horn clubhouse for the “Spayghetti & No Balls” fundraiser for the Second Chance Sheridan Cat Rescue. Included: an Italian buffet, live music with Mick Johnson, auctions and a chance to win a diamond necklace from Kraft’s Jewelry.

Tickets ($35) at the door are available. It starts at 6 p.m.

Sheridan Press tidings….

We’re moving the cheese again, adding features and content to publish a more complete newspaper. These additions and modifications begin tomorrow.

• One, we’re relocating our Public Notices pages to section B daily and Saturday.

• Two, we’re beginning “Page 6.” It’ll feature ‘Today in History’ by The Associated Press, “10 Things You Need to Know Today” by the AP, a couple of national obituaries. (We’re borrowing a page from our online edition.) And we’ll have more room for local news briefs.

• Three, we have increased the type size on our classified pages. We have also changed to an easier-to-read font. Readers have asked to make the type larger and we have.

• Four, tomorrow’s Press will feature three special sections: a tax guide, health and fitness, and a guide to local Super Bowl happenings. Look for it.

Thanks for reading!
