How: Saturday’s events and exhibits are free and open to the public. Tickets for Friday’s opening keynote address, reception, appetizers and book signing are available for $20 at Journeys Center of Wellbeing or by calling Michele Fritz at 763-7422.

Why did you think an event like this would be important in Sheridan County?

Fritz: The Wellness Festival is a celebration of overall wellness and gives Sheridan a chance to shine. Sheridan wellness experts have so much to offer.

This festival gives our community a chance to discover who and what is out there for their wellness needs. Looking at wellness from a holistic approach is necessary for the success of overall well-being. Most of us struggle with one or two dimensions of wellness.

If we look at wellness only from one perspective, we aren’t reaching most people. This is a one-of-a-kind event open to the entire community to learn about the dimensions of wellness and resources and tools available to them to enhance one’s overall well-being.

Juggling Elephants is the fun title of the keynote speaker’s address. What is he going to cover in his talk Friday night?

Loflin will reflect on the questions-Is the stress of your work, family, and life wearing you down? Finding that in the struggle to get it all done you are neglecting what’s most important to you? Jones Loflin’s suggestion to improve your professional and personal wellness is simple…. run off and join the circus!

Based on his award-winning book, Juggling Elephants, expect to leave Jones’ program better equipped to use your time and energy on what is most important to you, your family and your work. Building on principles of a successful circus, you’ll find yourself laughing while learning powerful solutions to improving your specific situation.

What are some of the wellness topics that will be covered on Saturday that you think will be popular with attendees?

I feel all the topics are equally exciting and important. It really depends on the individual’s interests and needs. There is something for everyone!

When people think wellness, the probably think physical well-being. However, for this event, wellness includes a variety of topics touching on other aspects besides physical health?

Yes, this is a festival celebrating, promoting and educating the community on eight dimensions of wellness-spiritual, mental, physical, environmental, occupational, financial, social and intellectual. Although there are not specific topics on social and intellectual wellness, the entire day incorporates these two dimensions of wellness. The Wellness Council takes a holistic approach to wellness education in order to satisfy the need to enhance overall all well-being.

What do you hope folks enjoy about this event or take away from it?

I hope people come away with a sense of support and community. I hope people learn practical tools or find resources to enhance his or her overall well-being. I hope people have a fun-filled day celebrating wellness.
