SHERIDAN — The first FAB Women’s Conference held Saturday at Sheridan College went off without a hitch, with approximately 100 people in attendance.

Attendees said the one-day event that covered a wide range of women’s issues was inspiring and motivating.

Keynote speakers Sarah Calhoun and Brig. Gen. Kathy Wright both wowed the crowd.

Calhoun spoke about her journey to becoming an entrepreneur in small-town Montana. She spoke of the need for integrity, mentors and guts to do what you know feels right.

“If I can’t run a business with integrity,” she said, “I don’t deserve to be in business.”

Wright spoke about her experiences in the military and how she did not see those she worked with as men and women, but simply as soldiers and people.

Wright also asked women to participate in reading “The Real Woman Creed” by Jan Phillips, which asks women to “commit, from this day forward, to loving myself deeply and extravagantly.”

Other sessions throughout the conference focused on personal finance, raising kids in today’s world, canning techniques, volunteerism and leadership, self defense, healthy relationships, caregiving and many more.

Check The Sheridan Press later this week for a full recap of the event as well as an announcement on when next year’s FAB Women’s Conference will take place.
