SHERIDAN — The Sheridan College volleyball team started the year with a 1-3 weekend at a tournament in North Platte, Neb.

After three losses to begin the tournament, on Saturday the Lady Generals defeated Eastern Wyoming College in straight sets (25-17, 25-22, 25-22). Earlier that day they fell to Northeastern Junior College (22-25, 18-25, 25-22, 26-28).

Friday, they suffered a five-game loss to Colby College (23-25, 25-14, 23-25, 25-18, 13-15) followed by a four-game defeat at the hands of North Platte (22-25, 26-24, 14-25, 25-27).

“I think we were brilliant at times, but we were inconsistent in our execution,” head coach Jennifer Weitzel said, She said she was encouraged by her team’s athleticism but that they need to work on their consistency.

Carly Gerving (Deadwood, S.D.) led the Lady Generals with 37 kills, Jenna Jordan (Lakewood, Colo.) had 75 assists over the weekend and Jill Espeland (Douglas) had 81 digs. Hannah Jernigan (Cheyenne) led the team with 21 blocks.

The Lady Generals play Dawson Community College in Glendive, Mont., at 7 p.m. Tuesday.  They’ll host the Golden Dome Invitational Friday and Saturday at SC.
